Dear Friend,
Recently Councilman Manoli Loupassi submitted a resolution to City
Council to study the establishment of a "Historic District" on the
property known as Windsor House.
I think this is a good step forward to protect a great neighborhood, and
I applaud the designation. Windsor Farms is one of the treasures of our
city and serves our efforts to make sure that the character and the
value of the neighborhood is protected from short-term proposals.
As an architect, I have worked with communities, zoning officials, the
Planning Commission, and City Councils on many zoning and land use
issues.
Currently, Windsor Farms is zoned R-r, which allows for a minimum lot
size of 20,000 square feet, in other words a little less than a
half-acre. In addition to the historic designation, I will work to have
a new zoning designation for Windsor Farms that suggests a minimum
standard of one acre per lot, which will be in keeping with the Windsor
Farms standards.
Windsor Farms is one of the most unique and desirable neighborhoods in
our nation. Protecting it is simply good planning, good business and
good community values.
Sincerely,
Bruce W. Tyler AIA
